Following its AnimeJapan presentation and launch of the series site, the first preview has been posted for the summer adaptation of Kugane Maruyama and artist so-bin's dark fantasy light novel series Overlord. The Madhouse production will be helmed by Naoyuki Itou (Re: Cutie Honey, One Piece TV specials) with Yukie Sugawara (Sword Art Online) writing screenplay and series composition and Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Hunter x Hunter) serving as character designer and animation director.
The series follows a salary man who remains online when the service for an MMORPG ends. In doing so, he becomes a powerful skeletal wizard. In his new form, he begins attracting followers and conquering the digital world that remains.
